Recent Technological Innovations in the Fire Protection Industry

Devin Doyle resides in Newport Beach, California, and is the owner of Response Fire Supply. In this role, Devin Doyle manages the company’s sales initiatives and oversees its four branches. Mr. Doyle previously owned and oversaw operations at Reaction Supply, a company that also served the fire protection industry.

Innovation within the fire protection industry is essential to advancing fire prevention and firefighting. Three recent technological advances in the industry are described below.

1. Smart technology. The application of smart technology is being used for several purposes within the fire protection industry including testing fire systems, monitoring water flow from sprinklers, and conducting inspections. Smart technologies are critical to saving more lives and preserving infrastructure.

2. Water mist suppression sprinkler systems. Systems such as HI-FOG are used to extinguish fires more efficiently than previous systems, since they use significantly less water and reach a greater surface area without causing excessive water damage. These systems suppress oxygen from feeding a fire and lower the amount of radiant heat produced by it.

3. Advanced smoke detectors. Designed for homeowners, this novel type of detector is capable of differentiating smoke aerosols produced from burning various types of materials. These detectors are also sensitive enough to determine if the smoke arising from fire is due to combustion or open flames.

The Benefits of Having Fire Sprinklers in Your Home

Devin Doyle started working in the sprinkler supply business in 1987. Beginning in 2013, Devin Doyle has served as the owner and president of Response Fire Supply, a supplier of fire sprinklers in Northern California, Southern California and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Fire sprinklers are an important addition to any family home as they help suppress and control fires and potentially toxic gases. Fire departments, on average, respond to a fire in 9 to 12 minutes. The response rate is not fast enough considering the damage that fire can do within that time In this case, fire sprinklers sometimes put out a fire entirely before the fire department even arrives.

When compared to the potential damage, using fire sprinklers is a very cost-effective alternative. Not only can they save you money, but they can also potentially save lives. They also require minimal maintenance and increase the value of a property by reducing insurance payments.
Whether you have a home or a business, it is important to have fire sprinklers installed to help prevent a total loss scenario from fires.
